Neck Exercises

Ever wonder what those lines that appear around our neck are. They are actually wrinkles. As we age, the skin on the front of our necks often tends to sag and loosen, making us look older than our actual age. Here are some simple exercises to stretch your neck and smooth down the wrinkles

Chin Lift
Tilt your chin up and look at a point high up on the wall, but not at the ceiling. Place your hands at the top of your throat, just below your chin. Try to lift your jaw up and out without throwing your head any farther back and you should fell your neck muscles tighten. Hold for several seconds then release. Repeat this as many times as you can.

Simple Head Turn
Sit up straight and make sure your shoulders are relaxed before you begin, then slowly turn your head to the left and right, holding on each side for five seconds. Performing each turn slowly and carefully will ensure you don’t jar your neck and your neck muscles work hard to control the movement. Repeat up to 10 times on each side.

Too much sugar causes wrinkles

Yes, it does! Who doesn’t crave sweetness?? Most of us do need at least one of those comforting sugary treats to brighten up your day. However, experts do believe that sweet sugary foods like doughnuts, cakes, ice-cream and even drinking soda accelerates skin aging.

Clinical research has shown that eating a diet high in sugar leads to wrinkles. Sugar damages proteins in your bloodstream. Most vulnerable to damage: collagen and elastin, the protein fibres that keep skin firm and elastic. In fact, collagen is the most prevalent protein in the body. Once damaged, springy and resilient collagen and elastin become dry and brittle, leading to wrinkles and sagging. An answer to how to prevent wrinkles, is limiting your sugar intake to 32 grams daily or about 8 teaspoons. Remember to stay away from beverages with high sugar content.
